Welcome. I’m Cindy, proud new owner of The China Cabinet and a life long lover of beautiful things, tea parties, and the joy of gathering with friends and family around a beautifully set table.

In 2007, The China Cabinet began with a tea party, hosted by its founder Maureen, and her best friend. The table was laden with finger sandwiches, a variety of mini savouries, scones with jam and cream as well as a selection of dainty cream cakes. This was beautifully displayed and served on their finest collection of china, silverware, crystal and linen.

The China Cabinet has grown into a boutique hire company specialising in vintage tableware for all occasions – weddings, high teas, commercial events, bridal and baby showers, funerals and more. The collection continues to expand with each piece chosen for its charm, history and elegance.

I’m honoured to carry on Maureen’s vision and passion. Like her, I believe these beautiful pieces shouldn’t be hidden away, they were made to be used, loved and enjoyed.

Our preference is for china produced in England during the last century, Royal Albert in particular is a favourite. I love the endless variety of colours and patterns. The intricate designs and the gold gilding make these timeless works of art.

Many items in our collection were once treasured gifts, tucked safely in china cabinets, admired but rarely used. Now they can shine again as part of your celebrations.

Local Service

We offer a personal delivery service Canterbury wide and elsewhere by arrangement. Viewings at and collections from our Rolleston base are welcome by appointment.
